Eh?

Much quietness observed over the bank holiday weekend, which was nice.

Today I have mostly been humming the tune to Paddington Bear. Still could be worse, when I mentioned it to Karoona she got wind of the flumps... now that is wierd.

Ester and Abi Ofarim

Peace and quiet all the way to the office this morning.

It appeared that the out-of-control part of my brain was having a lay-in.

I made a cup of tea before embarking on my first meeting of the day, and as I added the hot water, I caught myself whistling a tune.

That out-of-control part of my brain was singing along, curses!

"You're the lady, you're the lady that I love,
I'm the lady, the la-ady who..."

and so on.

The tune is called Cinderella Rockefella, and it was a hit in 1968.

This is a new low. My brain is now serving up iffy tunes from before I was born.

I have a horrible feeling I may just have proved that music played to a foetus has a lasting impact.

Hanging around... (Hanging a - rooouwnd)

Yes, we're hanging around (hanging a - rooouwnd)

Stranglers - circa 1981 ish

I have no reference point for this little gem - completely random - although it does make an appearance on a punk compilation album I own - but I bought that ten (?) years ago - one of those rash petrol forecourt purchases...

This morning it appeared in my head before I had even opened my eyes - my higher level functionality having been booted by the sound of my younger son shouting "daddy!" at 6:10am

It also set me off on a train of thought about songs you used to hear all the time, but not even Radio Two would play anymore - e.g. Golden Brown also by the Stranglers - mind you in the case of that song, we should thank the lord for small mercies.

TV adverts and Wogan

Today's tune has been brewing for months as a result of a TV commercial (the product escapes me - the ad will therefore win lots of awards for its creative genius)

Also as a result of the TV commercial the song was picked up by Wogan, not this morning as you might expect, but last week (either Wednesday or Thursday)

So thanks one and all, because the worst part about today's snippet is I don't even know the words.

All day I've had (on repeat as usual)

"I got my hair, got my nose, got my humm, aaa muh ahhh, got my eeee, got my nee nee naaahhh, got my humm, mutnanah, di di di di di di dah, I got my freedom!"

So full house today:
1. Small snippet on repeat
2. Irritating song
3. Don't even know the flippin' words

Excellent.

Campfest in head

Woke up this morning... (duh nuh nuh na nuh.... - well how else do you describe a blues riff?)

and was accosted by

"I'm just a mean green mutha from out of space and I'm bad"

Levi Stubbs, "Audrey II", Little shop of horrors.

By the time I'd got on the train this had developed into a full blown handbags at dawn with Steve Tyler singing "Love in an elavator" - I may have his name wrong... Liv Tylers' dad. I've definitely got her clear in my head.

They're still fighting now. Have been all day.

Ouch!

Got in the shower this morning (i'll spare you the details) - grabbed the showerhead, which had been left languishing in the bath from last nights kiddie washing torture, and as I stood up, was deafened with:

For those about to rock... we salute you!

Average White Band

Taking a punt on that, it could be someone completely different.

"Let's go round again, baby we'll turn back the hands of ti-ime"

Richard Harris.

Completely random when I was relaying the contents of my man bag. I have no idea... I may need help.

Beauty

This morning...

"Play that drum, go bang bang bang,
crash that cymbal go crash crash crash.
Make some noise (oo oo oh)
Jump around (oo oo oh)
Make some music to dance around to,
jump up and down tooooooo..."

Not so much a tune as a mentally generated visual experience, the song being sung by the members of Hi 5 (Channel 5 6:45am - thanks kids)

melded into Anita Baker - Joy - no idea where that came from - oh it may have been served up by Media Player in random mode recently. Happy to have this in my head, it's a classic

Ba Ba Um Ma Ma...

It lives, that part of my brain frightened off by Heisenburg about a month ago sprang back into action this morning with a belter....

The Martian Hop - sadly the Rocky Sharpe and the Replays version, not the 1963 original by the Ran-Dells, even the sleeve on the original is better.

Still, nice to have a happy choone to shave to this morning.
